Dear Ron and Tracy,

Thank you ever so much for our fabulous time at Qamea!  People have often asked me if it takes me a few days to unwind on vacation.  Strangely, it only takes me about 10 minutes to adjust to life on Qamea!  But, It has taken me about 10 days to catch up and readjust to home life as usual. 

We were especially impressed with the new jungle spa!  The treatments were heavenly.  I was dubious about the location, and expected bugs of which there were none in the spa bures.  However, the hush of the forest overlaid with bird calls and the faint sound of the ocean was deeply relaxing.  The therapists were second to none, and I’ve literally had well over 100 massages over many years being in the body work business.  The full body massage was eclipsed only by the sugar scrub.

The staff is part of what makes Qamea extra special.  The gorgeous location, first class bures, outstanding excursions, and pristine reef certainly don’t hurt.  But, the warmth, good humor, and generous spirit of the staff caused me to once again get a little misty when it came time to depart.  This also happened on my departure at the end of our first visit 3 years ago.  Not being one easily given to exaggerated emotions, I was surprised (again).  Fijians are a truly warm hearted people, the likes of which are very hard to find elsewhere.  I particularly enjoyed; Percy, William, Sia, Shayne, Jamie, and Mariah!

Finally, there is an abundance of pristine diving at numerous dive sites, most are very close to Qamea resort.  I was fortunate once again to dive with the crew at Qamea.  The dives were outstanding, and stand on their own merits compared to any reefs anywhere else in the world.  However, what I find most amazing is the pristine reef snorkeling available literally right in front of the resort!  On 3 occasions I snorkeled in excess of 2 hours each time, saw a vast diversity of sea life, but still did not come close to seeing it all.  Incredible!

Obviously, we’re back and just wanted you to know we had an absolutely wonderful time at Matangi.  The facilities were incredible and everybody at Matangi was absolutely awesome.  My wife loved the honeymoon and she said she can’t stop thinking about how lucky she is to have been able to go.  Thank you so much for the recommendation and for working with me on short notice.  I’m already looking forward to returning…although it will probably be a while.

I wanted to let you know that Britta & I made it back safe & sound from the BEST TRIP OF OUR LIVES!!!!!  I have to keep this message short, as you can understand we have a tidal wave of things to do, and catch up on following our wedding and 2-week absence from the USA.

I’ve got a lot more I want to say to you but cannot do so on email right now—but I will be calling you in the next couple days (I think you’re headed to the South Pacific soon?) but I definitely wanna touch base with you and fill you in on all of our favorite adventures.

The Teking camping experience was the absolute pinnacle of the entire honeymoon—-other honeymooners were SO JEALOUS when they heard what we did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WE LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Matangi,

Thank you for a wonderful week!!! We really like what you have done with Matangi ( We stayed there 3 years ago)! The remodeled Bures and the new dining Bure are gorgeous! We had a fantastic fun and relaxing time.

Ally the dive instructor is a great asset to your resort. She is very bright, knowledgeable, patient, and so nice. My wife really appreciated her help! I really enjoyed her too. She has a great knowledge of Marine Biology. The “wreck dive” (300 yards from the resort) is expansive, and dense with healthy hard corals. I also greatly enjoyed Noels Wall and the Yellow Wall. What stands out on Matangi’s dive sites is the isolation. Never on the dives did I see another dive boat. Also, signs of “diver traffic” on the reefs are very hard to find if they exist at all.

Your new chef is a star! (I suppose I should not rave too loud lest he be stolen by another resort.) The meals were fantastic! My wife gained 3 pounds, and I’m afraid to get on the scale. The spa was excellent, Winnie the massage therapist is wonderful! The honeymoon beach excursion at Horseshoe Bay was very relaxing (OK, I slept through part of it because that was the same morning we got up early to go fishing with Bill, who is a great captain by the way.) We greatly enjoyed the hike to Beverly Hill. I really did not want to go home.

If you look in the dictionary for the definition of heaven I am sure you will find the word “Matangi Island”! We had the best trip with our friends. We stayed in the treehouses. Much to do, OR NOT, we ate, snorkeled, swam in the pool, ate, picnicked, hiked, ate, trip to the village, natural watersliding, ate, fished, went to church, visited with the Fijian people, did I say we ate!!! Wonderful meals, ALL OF THEM, I love greens and the salads were very fresh and crispy each time. OH! and the fresh cookies at all times! The massages, and facials fantastic. Of course, the fabulous sunsets.

We finally decided to try our friends (neighbors on Matangi Island) ritual of a milk bath Jacuzzi almost everyday, very refreshing.

The staff at Matangi were so gracious and accommodating. We were more like family by the time we left. It was very difficult to leave, Fijian’s know the meaning of the word “LIVE”.

BUT, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING about our trip is that it would not have been possible without the expertise of Tree Ritchie at South-Seas-Adventures.com. She worked very hard to make this the best trip EVER and she is wonderful to work with! Thank you Tree.

Now, I am going to contact her to set up another trip!!
